start dates automatically being entered which automatically update

E

edie

when the project is updated, tasks that are delayed (no actual start date)
automatically are updated with the date that is baselined and a percentage is
calculated and displayed. if the complete date is delayed, the actual
complete date is filled in with the baseline completion date and the
percentage is at 100%. I would like for unfinished tasks to have there actual
start date to remail n/a and the percentages to remain. Please help.

Hi Edie,

I wish I clearly understood what you mean, because project normally does not
do what you claim.
It will only do so when you explictly ask for it using Tools, Tracking,
Update Project, Update Work as complete through...
I think you need the other option (Tools, Tracking, Update Project,
Reschedule uncompleted work to start after...)
If you are using the tracking toolbar, both options are there as well.
Hope this helps,

Thank you. I never seen it do this before either, but I am rather new at
using the tool. I will let you know how this works.
Thanks...

Jan,

I tried what you suggested. It did not fill in the actual start and finish
dates nor the percentages. Thank you. It did move the start and finish dates
out which moved the dependncy tasks dates. That was not quite what I was
looking for. Normally when I status the schedule, the last thing that I do
is, tools -> tracking ->update project ->entire project. The tasks that were
scheduled to start but have not started, remain unchanged. I don't know what
I have done differently this time to make it fill in the the percentages and
the actual dates.

Thank you.

Hi Edie,

1. I'm sorry but I can not find a cklearcut question ion yiour post. Do you
still have a question?
2. When you say that you do:
tools -> tracking ->update project ->entire project.
You don't say which of the two options (Update as scheduled or reschedule
work) you choose. They work entirely differently - nearly opposite.

Hope this helps,
