Start time

For some of my tasks - I cannot change the start date. THey are the original
tasks - phases that I named and all have subcategories. They are not linked
to anything though. What am I doing wring

You cannot change the start date of a Summary task which is what is sounds
like you are attempting to do.

A summary task is just a grouping of your subtasks so you need to adjust the
start date of your subtask if you want to see the summary task start date
change.

If you don't want a summary task you need to outdent the subtasks so they
are at the same outline level

Highlight the subtask in question and clikc on outdent button. It is
located on the "Formatting" toolbar and it looks like a left green arrow.
If you are comfortable with using key shortcuts you can do the same by click
Shift-Alt - Left Arrow
