sync problem

I work for a campus with an outlook exchange configuration. I have an office
computer, and a laptop computer. When I add contacts using a card scanner,
or I add contacts using the import task feature, both the contacts and the
tasks disappear 30 seconds after they are imported.

I cannot figure out why the contacts are imported, then then mysterously
dissapear.

On which machine are you adding them and exactly how? Are you using an
Exchange account on both machines? What version of Outlook and Exchange?
