transfer old outlook datafile into new computer

I've installed outlook 2003 in a notebook and received some emails, but then
start to realize if I can transfer my old emails (in a desktop which also
Outlook 2003) and merge with my outlook in the notebook.

I've tried to follow the specified methods in Microsoft HELP centre but end
up prompted by message saying the desktop outlook datafile (which I copied
and paste in outlook folder in the notebook) is not Personal Folder pst. file.

How can I merge these two outlook datafile into my notebook. The desktop may
no longer received any email.

Never copy and paste an Outlook Data File into the default folder. There's a
good chance you'll overwrite another PST file and corrupt your profile.
Just copy it anywhere else. Make sure it has no read only attribute. Then
open it in Outlook.

So much appreciate for your help but it still prompt with same message. From
the desktop outlook, I have "export to a file" with file type "Personal
folder file (.pst)" into independant folder i.e "My download file" folder.
Via "user account>mail etc..." I 've tried to add, where selection of folders
prompted. Upon selecting the file, system still recognized it as non Personal
Folder file (.pst).

On the 2nd trial, I've accessed from outlook>file>open>outlook data file>
"to the specified copied file folder"... also end up with same message.

I've checked file properties that it was not a read only type.

Regards

Never export - simply copy the file and place it where you want, My
Documents is a good place that normally is backed up by users. Exporting is
only for when you need to "translate" Outlook's .pst file for use in
another, non-Outlook program.
