One of our software developers just asked me a question regarding a problem
opening an Access file. He has the file stored in a shared folder on his
local machine. Another user was trying to open the file and was unable to
do so. He was able to open the file without a problem, so he thought that
the issue might be with the lock file. He deleted the lock file, but the
other user still could not open the file. Finally, he created a copy of the
file in the same shared folder on his local machine, and the other user was
able to open that copy of the file.
He has since deleted the original file, so unfortunately we are not able to
look at the file properties and attributes, and since the immediate problem
has been resolved, it's not a high priority issue. Nonetheless, he would
like to know what may have caused this problem and how to fix it if it
happens in the future.
Any thoughts?
