Hi Lynn

It seems to me that there are two ways that a picture can distort. One is to
try to display it larger than the original picture, in which case you lose
quality. The other is to stretch the picture either horizontally or
vertically.

Double-click the picture, and choose the Size tab. Has it been stretched
beyond 100%? Does it say that Height and Width are both 100%, or at least
both the same percentage as the original?

Hope this helps.

the picture is not stretched or edited.
i opened the same word document in both word 2000 and word 2003

its not about the size of the picture as it does not happen on office 2000.
any other possibilities?

Hi Lynn

I think you'll have to explain what you mean by "distort". That is, what
steps are you following, what is happening, and what do you expect to see?

Hope this helps.

distort as in the picture is covered with strips of white bars or even
completely cannot be seen.

That's a display issue (unless they're printing that way). Updating your
display driver or turning down hardware acceleration may clear the problem.

For an answer to that question, you'll need to ask the gurus in
microsoft.public.word.drawing.graphics, where this thread should have
started in the first place. Microsoft has made some changes in graphics
handling over various versions, but I am not knowledgeable about them.
