"Can't Open Any More Databases" error message????

Hello all,

I've got an issue hopefully you all can help me out with. I have an MDE
file installed on each user's hard drive which is linked to 2 data files on
the server.

One function of this database is to create a form letter in MS Word, and
there are a few ways to get to the form to perform this action. The users
are finding that if they go to the form directly from the main menu, the
function works fine, but if they navigate to the form indirectly (by choosing
a "go to" button on a different form) and then try to generate the form
letter, they are getting the error message "Can't open any more databases".
I can't see why they would get this error by navigating to the form one way
versus another, so hopefully you can shed some light on what might be
happening.

I've checked all the obvious issues - I've made sure that each user is
indeed opening the MDE file on their hard drive and not the mde file on the
server. There are probably no more than 8-10 users in this database at any
given time. There are, however, 2 data files that the MDE links to. Could
this be part of the problem? Does Access "open" a data file for each person
who has the MDE open at any given time?

Any ideas?

Thank you so much!

Janelle
