i've updated to office 2003 but now all my saved files are unavai.

i've updated my microsoft office to the 2003 version. after doing this i
sestarted my computer and tried to get into my saved word files so that i
could complete my college work. it just keeps saying that my files are
unavailable. how do i correct this problem?
